“Throughout my life I have always been passionate about art, craft and design. I’ve experimented with practically every medium, both in two and three dimensions from furniture painting, jewellery making, floristry and animation but my main passion lies with painting and drawing.”
Drawn to art as a child, always drawing and painting, Lucy feels it was her destiny to become a professional artist. She attended Art College and graduated with a degree at Northumbria University. After gaining her degree in Graphic Art she broadened her experience in other artistic disciplines including Digital Media, Animation, Games Design, Website Design and Photography, exploring and mastering all these media while at the same time returning to art college in a teaching role.
In time, Lucy came to the conclusion that she preferred creating her own work to teaching and as successes and sales of her artwork increased, so she was able to set up studio as a full time artist. More recently she has achieved greater recognition becoming the Official Artist for the 2016 Tour de Yorkshire as well as nomination as best Newcomer by the Fine Art Trade Guild.
Lucy’s vibrant and colourful paintings are filled with joy. She treats her subject with great affection and humour and her hope is that people admiring her work will share “the love of something beautiful, whether that is the colour, shape, texture or meaning of a piece of art and I hope to continue this journey for years to come.”
